A Day In The Life

Minds Matter students make a commitment to attend regular weekly sessions where they work hard toward achieving their end goal of attending college.

In a typical day, a Minds Matter student will spend the first portion of his/her session working in a group setting on either Writing & Critical Thinking (sophomores) or Test Prep for the PSAT/SAT and/or ACT. The students spend the remaining 1-2 hours of session with their two mentors and the rest of their team. A day’s activities may include from researching academic summer programs or colleges/universities, working on personal statements and applications to these programs, or engaging in workshops and panels that focus on particular areas of the application process. Through these sessions, Minds Matter students gain invaluable access to academic and social enrichment, while strengthening their college applications.

”Minds Matter has really helped me get closer to achieving my goal of attending a great college. The mentors have shown a great interest in my success and have made me more focused on school. With the help that I have received from my mentors I know I will go far and succeed against all odds that I may face.”
