New York City - How To Apply

We are currently accepting applications for our 2009 - 2010 Program!

For the eighteenth consecutive year, Minds Matter will pair bright students in 10th grade with college-educated mentors to aid them in reaching their full academic potential.

Minds Matter assists students in applying to academic summer programs at various colleges, universities, and preparatory schools. In past summers, students have participated in summer programs at institutions including Harvard, Brown, Cornell, Yale, Phillips Academy (Andover), Phillips Exeter and Choate. Students have also attended academic programs abroad in countries such as France, Japan, South Africa and Thailand.

Moreover, the program provides students with general tutoring, writing workshops and SAT/ACT workshops. Minds Matter helps students apply for financial aid awards and raises funds to supplement financial aid.

The following items (posted below) should be returned by Friday, September 18, 2009. All items must be mailed together. The completed application should be mailed to: Minds Matter of NYC, Inc. 1120 Avenue of the Americas, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10036

Guidance Counselor Nomination Form
Completed Student Application

      - Personal Information Section
      - Short Answer and Essay Section
      - Completed Parent/Guardian Section (with signature)
      - Teacher Recommendation (in a signed, sealed envelope)
2008 signed Federal Tax return (IRS Form 1040 including W2 form and all Schedules) from both parents/guardians (even if separated or divorced) and/or proof of government assistance
Copy of US passport, front & back of Green Card or VISA (students born in the US may submit a copy of their birth certificate or social security card)
Most recent official high school transcript (request from School’s Registrar or Guidance Office in a signed, sealed envelope)
